Cooking Class: Authentic Portuguese Cuisine in Porto

Immerse yourself in Portuguese culture during this private cooking class led by Chef Heitor. 


You'll learn how to use local ingredients to cook up a multi-course meal on a quaint farm and vineyard. The meal begins with your choice of a fish course. Use a cornbread crust to make codfish with broa or layer cod with onions and mashed potatoes to make zé do pipo. Then, move to the meat course, where you have your choice between savory roasted lamb, tender oven-baked chicken or rich duck with rice. Venture back to the sea with the shellfish course and learn how to prepare clams and lobster properly. Choose one dessert to end the meal on a decadent note, such as a zesty orange roll cake or a creamy Portuguese crème brûlée. Then, indulge in the joy and flavors of Portuguese cuisine.

Fish Course

Choose 1 as a group

Codfish with broa (cornbread crust)

Codfish “zé do pipo” with layers of cod, onion and mashed potatoes

Codfish “à brás” with salted cod, onions, potatoes, olives, eggs and parsley

Caldeirada with mixed fish, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, onions and coriander

Fish baked in the oven

Sardine cutlets with tomato rice

Marinated fish escabeche

Hake fish soup with bread

Octopus rice with tomatoes, onions and herbs


Meat Course

Choose 1 as a group

Roasted lamb

Roasted pork neck with traditional Portuguese rice

Oven-baked chicken and migas (bread fried cake)

Duck with rice

Rojões of pork confit with saffron rice, cooked blood and guts


Shellfish Course

Choose 1 as a group for an additional charge

Shellfish rice

Oven-baked lobster

Clams “à bulhão pato” in garlic olive oil and wine


Dessert

Choose 1 as a group

Sweet egg cream

Toucinho do ceu cake with eggs, almonds, sugar and chila pumpkin

“Belém” custard tarts
