It was a fun intro to pottery, but felt like the actual class was different from what was offered on the site. For one small thing, we didn't end up receiving the wine that was mentioned. More importantly, it was 1 hour of instruction and the rest was free time on the wheels, but it would have been nice to have guidance for longer. We each received "4 pounds" of clay to work with, but really one of us received 2x 1lb chunks and the other received 3x 1lb chunks... When we inquired about more, it would cost $25/lb or $100/6lb... I am all for getting a margin on materials as a business, but that markup pricing seems unreasonable considering the most expensive clay I could find with a quick internet search was $80/25lbs. Additionally, there were no aprons provided to us. I dunno about you, but this was our first time doing pottery so we thought there would be something in the studio to cover our clothes. Our instructor was nice and clearly good at what they do, but didn't have the best short-form teaching skills yet. I think they will improve with practice for sure. They were very bubbly, which was welcomed.
When we returned for painting our pottery, the pottery had been messed up a bit and one had a hole in the bottom. The system they have in place for getting you the paint colors you needed was cute in theory, but highly inefficient in practice. You use small tiles on a tray to indicate the colors you want, but to find those colors you sift through a big bowl of the tiles…
The studio as a whole is more of a painting studio, like Color-Me-Mine if you've ever been there. It is a family-run business, which is amazing to see. I would not recommend for making your own pottery.

Great shop and experience. Allie was not only kind but very interactive and the studio was extremely nice! Helped along the way but gave us our personal space to enjoy our date night.
I would definitely go back and suggest Rainbows as a place to go and express your artistic side. Thanks Allie and classpop!!!

We traveled from Maine to Boston for the day and decided to try something different and came across Expressive Pottery Painting. We arrived on time and was seated by a gentleman. Picked two mugs and paint colors. Whole time we were left to paint. We did not meet Allie, the instructor. The music was somewhat odd and was controlled by the gentleman. Experience was not what we expected. It was not worth the price and traveling. It's disappointing to leave such review.

I had such an amazing time in Boston, but what made my birthday special coming to rainbow pottery studio. I love that everyone was so welcoming and sweet the music you definitely will catch a vibe from R&B to jazz to pop. The studio also offered champagne and assortment of wine to indulge wile you bring your inner artistic touch to your pieces. Unfortunately I couldn't pick up our pieces but the owner expressed that it wasn't a problem and she would shipped our pieces to us. Mind you were in Maryland so thank you thank you this place is a must.
