Join Chef Kumi in this virtual cooking class as you take on fermenting basics using fresh ingredients and professional techniques. 


This unique online cooking class guides you through learning how to create two classic fermented favorites; kimchi and sauerkraut! 


You'll kick off your virtual cooking class with spicy kimchi using Chinese cabbage, daikon, apples, kombu, carrots, ginger and garlic. Then, you'll learn how to create traditional homemade sauerkraut perfect for topping hot dogs and more using cabbage, carrots, dill and mustard seeds.

Chef Kumi was born and raised in Japan and developed an interest in cooking early in life while helping her mother in the kitchen. She attended college in the U.S. and culinary school in Switzerland, though her longing to understand local food cultures has taken her across Asia, where she’s lived and worked for the past 20 years. Having taught at various culinary schools, Chef Kumi has become passionate about sharing her experience and knowledge.
