Cooking Class: Handmade Tortillas and Salsa in Mexico City

Join Chef Eduardo, an expert in the local culinary scene, to craft tortillas from scratch as well as delicious salsas to pair with them.
To begin, chop tomatillos, white onions, cilantro and garlic to make a fresh green salsa. Then, make a chunky red salsa with Roma tomatoes, sun-dried peppers and garlic. Learn the secrets to making homemade guacamole with avocado and key lime, adding a little spice with serrano pepper. Master the time-honored technique of making handmade tortillas using corn flour and masa harina, cooked until golden brown. Use the tortillas to make authentic campechanos piled high with Spanish chorizo, cheese, white onion and cilantro. Finish the meal with a zesty lemon sorbet and sweet dulce de zapote for dessert.

Chef Jose was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire process fun and engaging. We went to a market which was a lot of fun and a learning experience. He provided clear step-by-step instructions, and made it fun for everyone! The ingredients were fresh, and the kitchen was well-equipped. (Only thing I would suggest is adding a better tortilla maker). I loved how interactive the class was—everyone got to participate, and we were able to ask questions and learn new techniques. By the end, I walked away with new skills, delicious recipes, and a renewed love for cooking. Highly recommend this class to anyone looking to improve their culinary skills to learn to make enchiladas, tacos and fresh salsa!

Chef Jose thought the class and he provided a fun and educational learning experience. The class wasn’t as described though. This one was Marketed as a “Tortilla and Salsa” class. I was here last year and signed up for a “Mexican Cooking Class”. Turns out it was in the same kitchen, with the same instructor, with the same menu (which include soup and enchiladas. What I was looking for was a class specific to salsas. Still a good class even if it was a repeat.

We were doing a corporate offsite in Mexico City and decided to do the cooking class with Chef Jose. It was an amazing experience - from buying grocery from the local market to preparing & cooking the dishes. The food turned out to be amazing. It was a great team event and I would highly recommend everyone to try it!
