Cooking Class: Cooking Elevated Sichuan Cuisine

In this interactive cooking class, you'll learn how to create delectable dishes from the Sichuan region of China. Chef Chris will walk you through the process of preparing authentic recipes using premium ingredients. 


Get started by mastering the art of braising eggplant with hot bean paste, ginger and soy sauce. Then, learn the secrets of crafting flawless pork and green onion wontons and preparing a delicious infused chili oil for dipping. For the main course, braise white fish in a blend of dried chilis and Shaoxing wine, and serve it with fluffy steamed rice. Finally, round off your culinary journey with some traditional Chinese walnut cookies for dessert.

Sichuan Braised Eggplant

With hot bean paste, garlic, ginger, sugar, black vinegar, soy sauce, green onions and potato starch


Sichuan Pork and Green Onion Wontons

With ginger, Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, sesame oil and white pepper


Sichuan-Infused Chili Oil

With star anise, cinnamon sticks, Sichuan peppercorns, Sichuan chili flakes, fennel seeds, shallots, garlic, bay leaves, vegetable oil and dry sand ginger


Sichuan Braised White Fish and Steamed Jasmine Rice

With dried chilis, Sichuan peppercorns, Shaoxing wine, celery, garlic, ginger, green onions, white pepper, cilantro, chicken stock and chili bean paste

My niece and I thoroughly enjoyed the pasta class with Chef Chris. We learned so much about the chemistry of cooling and how easy it really is to make incredibly tasty food from whole ingredients. Looking forward to making meals for our family in the upcoming holiday season- especially some homemade gelato/“ice cream”!

Chef Chris was working as an Italian teacher at UC Berkeley when he discovered his passion for cooking. Ever since then, he has been following his passion of cooking and teaching with a focus on regional Italian cuisine. He even co-founded a culinary event business to highlight his skills. Chef Chris teaches an array of different highly regarded cooking classes, many of which are created for corporate teambuilding. He also currently provides walking food tours of Little Italy.
