Learn the recipes and techniques that make Southeast Asian cuisine so special in this hands-on cooking class from Chef Derrick. He'll share his secrets for recreating the most quintessential dishes from this popular culture.
Begin with a simple blend of curry paste, coconut milk and peanut sauce for a creamy chicken satay, flavored with tangy cucumber relish. Then, prepare Thai-style eggplant with herbaceous basil and bell peppers. You'll also create kimchi fried rice topped with your choice of chicken, beef or shrimp, and whip up a fun sticky rice for dessert, made even sweeter with homemade coconut caramel sauce.

This was a great evening event (date night). Chef Derik is such a great person and made everyone feel welcome. He encouraged each person to “roll up their sleeves” and get involved. We will be doing another one soon.

His time in the kitchen has taken him from Philippines to California in roles ranging from line cook to head chef. Much of his experience occurred in the hospitality industry, which provided him a keen service-oriented skill set.
