Cooking Class: The Golden Girls Miami Feast

In this in-person cooking class, Chef Chris channels the breezy spirit of Miami in an homage to the beloved sitcom, The Golden Girls. This fun menu is perfect for sharing with friends around the kitchen table or on the lanai. The chef will teach you how to prepare bright and succulent Gulf shrimp ceviche paired with braised ropa vieja steak, cuban rice and black beans. For dessert, there’s nothing better than a rich and zesty mango mascarpone cheesecake.

Gulf Shrimp Ceviche

With lime juice, garlic, garden mint, salt and pepper


Braised Ropa Vieja Steak

With flank steak, bell pepper, garlic, and cumin


Cuban Rice & Black Beans

With black beans, annatto, bacon and oregano


Mango Mascarpone Cheesecake

With cream cheese, eggs, lime zest and honey


Graham Cracker Cookie Crust

With brown sugar and butter

My niece and I thoroughly enjoyed the pasta class with Chef Chris. We learned so much about the chemistry of cooling and how easy it really is to make incredibly tasty food from whole ingredients. Looking forward to making meals for our family in the upcoming holiday season- especially some homemade gelato/“ice cream”!

Chef Chris was working as an Italian teacher at UC Berkeley when he discovered his passion for cooking. Ever since then, he has been following his passion of cooking and teaching with a focus on regional Italian cuisine. He even co-founded a culinary event business to highlight his skills. Chef Chris teaches an array of different highly regarded cooking classes, many of which are created for corporate teambuilding. He also currently provides walking food tours of Little Italy.
