Cooking Class: Outstanding Sushi and Asian Dishes
In this hands-on cooking class, you’ll prepare sushi and other Asian-inspired dishes. You’ll learn a slew of cooking techniques from Chef Jalen, an expert at his craft. This class is perfect for both beginner sushi-makers and experienced chefs. You’ll begin by crafting better-than-take-out fried rice loaded with shrimp, chicken and vegetables. Then, you’ll learn how to prep and roll sushi like a pro. To accompany the sushi, you’ll cook chicken skewers paired with a sweet and spicy sauce. For dessert, you’ll make Japanese-style doughnuts loaded with cinnamon sugar, caramel and chocolate.

We really enjoyed our class with Chef Jalen! He was very knowledgeable and organized. He was such a good teacher as he kept us engaged and answered all of our questions. We learned some great new tips and techniques that will help us recreate these wonderful dishes. I highly recommend Chef Jalen to all those in Charlotte!
Chef Jalen’s culinary career has taken him from being line cook, sous chef or kitchen manager at various restaurants to a lead position at a highly regarded Chinese bistro. He’s also a culinary entrepreneur, running a private chef and catering company. Chef Jalen’s experience working on the East Coast eventually led him to Charlotte, where he now happily shares his passion for international cuisine with students and aspiring chefs of all skill levels.
