Cooking Class: Vietnamese Fusion Cooking

In this hands-on cooking class with Chef Thuy, you'll explore the unique and complex flavors of Vietnamese cuisine and learn how to create exciting Vietnamese fusion dishes. To start, you'll stuff, roll and fry your own Vietnamese-style crab puffs before enjoying a fresh Korean green salad with a light soy vinaigrette. Then, for the main dish, Chef Thuy will teach you how to cook a delicate grilled pork vermicelli. Finally, you'll end on a sweet note with a dessert of mixed tropical fruit with coconut milk.

Chef Thuy showed me how to make Japanese dumplings. She clearly talked about each ingredient as she cooked. I learned the technique of partly frying and partly steaming. This is how they are crunchy on one side and still soft and chewy on the other. They looked delicious when they were done. She also showed me how to make a homemade dipping sauce for them. She was very friendly and we had a nice conversation during the class.
