Cooking Class: Beautiful South Indian Breakfast Spread

Chef Kavitha will awaken your senses in this fun, interactive cooking class. You’ll learn how to craft an authentic South Indian breakfast menu, starting with gluten-free, savory breakfast crêpes (masala dosa), one of the most popular Indian breakfast foods. You’ll then whip up a masala potato mash and coconut-cilantro chutney. While you’re cooking, feel free to indulge in a cup of traditional South Indian coffee made with warming chicory. You’ll end the meal with a heavenly rice pudding (payasam) topped with cashews and raisins.


MENU


Dosa Crêpes 

With fermented rice, urad lentil and clarified butter


Cilantro Chutney 

With coconut and roasted gram


Masala Potato Mash 

With onions, curry leaves, mustard seeds and turmeric


South Indian Filter Coffee 

With chicory mix and milk


Payasam 

With rice vermicelli, milk, sugar, cashews and raisins

Chef Kavitha was a great teacher and super organized! She kept us all engaged while she shared her knowledge of different types of cuisines and showed us how to create these amazing dishes. I highly recommend Chef Kavitha to anyone in the NYC area!
