Cooking Class: A Taste of Korean Banchan

Get a taste of a variety of Korean side dishes in this engaging cooking class. Chef Shinya will guide you through a Korean banchan menu and teach you traditional techniques to create it. 


To start the class, you'll make savory pancakes filled with green onions and carrots. Next, make Galbi-Tang, a flavorful soup with tender short ribs. You'll make fluffy mixed grain rice to eat and fresh spinach namul. Cook crispy stir-fried fish cakes and a variety of dipping sauces to enjoy with them. Finish with a parfait made from fresh fruit for dessert.

Savory Vegetable Pancakes

With green onions, carrots, yellow onions, flour and sea salt


Galbi-Tang

With grass-fed short ribs, yellow onions and carrots


Mixed Grain Rice

With sea salt and 40% milled rice


Eomuk Bokkeum

Stir-fried fish cakes with vegetables


Spinach Namul

With sesame oil, sea salt and garlic


Dipping Sauce

With green onions, sesame seeds, soy sauce and rice vinegar

The class and the Chef Shinya were wonderful. It was all it was advertised as and more. The history and traditions along with the sushi instructions was excellent. And I really liked the small class size. The food was wonderful. I only wish I had had room to eat more

I had a wonderful time at the ramen making class. Chef Shinya was very knowledgeable and friendly, and he made us feel at home. He taught us all the tricks and techniques to make authentic and delicious ramen. We learned about the different types, and how to flavor it. The ramen we made was amazing. His combination of both classic Japanese techniques and native ingredients makes for dishes that are truly unique. Chef Shinya has lots of industry experience, having worked as both a culinary instructor and chef trainer. He also formerly owned a restaurant that earned three stars from Seattle Times.
