This should unfortunately be 1 star, but leaving two stars because shame, Charuta is kind and friendly. Unfortunately, the class was very lacking. The first challenge is the venue, the Canadian Brewhouse, not a local brewery like advertised. It is just not the right atmosphere, kids were playing basketball right next to us. The flow of the class was tough, not very interactive and honestly a bit uncomfortable. The teaching element was missing, our group had to prompt the chef with questions and often there was no talking at all. I really wish we got to make our own sauces, rather than have one premade and watch Charuta add some ingredients. It would be much improved if we each got to cook together as pairs with our own pots and stoves, that is what I would expect for the price point… Part of the fun of a class is also to see what you make individually, but all our dough was compiled into one where you can’t tell who made what and yeah, it just didn’t hit the mark. Very unfortunately, we cooked the pasta for literally 10 seconds and was completely raw, I could pull the dough apart. We all mostly left it uneaten. A real shame because I think Charuta is a kind lovely soul, but the class needs more attention to detail and work. At this point I couldn’t recommend it.

Chef Charuta taught us so much about Indian cooking. The Chicken Biryani was one of the best dishes we have ever tasted in our lives. I loved learning about the spices and methods that Chef Charuta shared with us and we enjoyed every course of the meal from the taste to learning how to prepare it. I would highly recommend to anyone that they take a cooking class with Chef Charuta.
