Cooking Class: Beginner Sushi Making
Embrace your inner sushi chef in this hands-on cooking class led by Chef Mike. Under his expert guidance, you'll learn the time-honored techniques to make delicious sushi rolls from scratch.
You'll begin the class with a sesame garlic edamame as you're introduced to the high-quality ingredients. Then, learn how to make the perfect seasoned sushi rice with rice vinegar, sugar and mirin and whip up a spicy mayo with Sriracha. Next, layer the rice, crabsticks, cucumber and avocado onto nori sheets to make a refreshing California roll. Use sushi-grade salmon and spicy mayonnaise to make a spicy salmon maki roll. Finally, make a salmon maki roll with salmon and rice. With each roll, you'll master the technique of rolling sushi like a pro and cut it into bite-sized pieces and finish with chewy matcha almond cookies for dessert.

Meet your chef
Chef Mike has experience concocting a wide range of ethnic cuisines, including Thai, Indian and Ethiopian options. For the past five years, he has led a variety of cooking workshops, but his specialty lies in crafting ethnic plant-based dishes. Chef Mike has worked in corporate test kitchens for Walmart and Campbells, and he even worked as an on-call assistant to the chef of the Canadian Prime Minister. He is eager to impart his worldly knowledge unto aspiring chefs.
